Many communities are in clean-up mode, following a line of severe weather that swept across the state overnight and into the morning hours. The storms brought high winds, heavy rain, and hail to parts of the state.

Tod Pritchard with Wisconsin Emergency Management says it started Wednesday night, with several reports of high wind and tree damage in northwestern Wisconsin, primarily near the Rice Lake and Cumberland areas. Then this morning, heavy rain fell across southern and southeastern Wisconsin, prompting multiple severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings.

There have been no reports of major property damage, although thousands of electric customers did lose power.

The National Weather Service says another round of storms is expected later this afternoon and through the overnight hours.
