Some south side Kenosha residents were literally sweating the cleanup from storms that rolled through Saturday night, including borderline tornadic winds. The National Weather Service sent personnel to look at damaged trees and other signs of severe weather covering about three miles. Some residents thought it was a small twister, but the evidence pointed to straight line winds, which are up to about 90-miles an hour. Several large trees were uprooted, while others were broken, and fell on homes, vehicles and power lines. Fences were ripped apart with one section observed embedded in the side of a home on the second level. WE Energies repair crews spent the day restoring power, after thousands had gone dark at the height of the storms, which also hit hard in neighboring Lake County-Illinois.
