For the 5th straight year, Steve Stricker found himself in the top-10 at the John Deere Classic. Stricker posted a 16-under par performance for the week at the TPC Deere Run for a 10th place time with Jim Herman and a near $120,000 payday. Stricker won the event 3-years in a row from 2009 to 2011 before finishing tied for 5th last year.
Jerry Kelly had a strong showing as well. Kelly was 1-shot off the pace at 18-under par to finish in a 3-way tie for 4th.
19-year-old Jordan Spieth took home the trophy after outlasting Zach Johnson and David Hearn in a 5-hole, sudden death playoff. Spieth is just the the fourth teen to ever win on the PGA Tour and the first teen to do so since 1931.
Neither Stricker or Kelly will be playing in this weeks British Open. Golf’s 3rd Major of the year gets underway early Thursday from Muirfield in Scotland.
