The biggest story from day one of the Shell Houston Open in Humble, Texas was rain.  Over an inch fell in the afternoon Thursday wiping out a majority of the first round.  Only 51 of the 115 entrants were able to finish their first round.

Among them was Wisconsin’s Steve Stricker.  Stricker fired a 4-under 68 and will be three shots off the pace when play begins at 6:30 Friday morning.  Carl Pettersson and Angel Cabrer each finished their rounds and went 7-under before the washout.  Defending Champion Phil Mickelson made it through 3-holes Thursday and was 1-under par when called off the course.

This is the final event on tour before the Masters, the first Major of 2012, begins on April 5th.
