Madison area native Steve Stricker won on the PGA Tour for the first time this year. Stricker birdied a second playoff hole and beat Tim Clark and Steve Marino in a playoff to win the Crowne Plaza Invitational.
Stricker said it's a special win after missing chances earlier in the Tour season. Stricker has 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th place finishes and now has a first to go along with it.
Stricker earns more than $1.1 million for the win and moves him into second place on the FedEx Cup points list, 142 points behind leader Zach Johnson.
Stricker trailed by 2-shots going into the final round and becomes the third Wisconsin native to win on Tour in 2009, joining Madison's Jerry Kelly and Menomonee Falls native Mark Wilson.
