A new study has found that students within the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) have a greater chance of graduating than those in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). This study is an update to a 2007 report both of which were lead by Dr. John Robert Warren, Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Minnesota.

Warren cites two possible reasons why MPCP students are finishing school at higher rates than their MPS counterparts. The first could be internal factors such as governance or culture within choice schools. Another possibility involves differences within those students and their families who choose to attend so-called voucher schools over MPS.

The professor had no data about individual students and relied on information about grades and schools. The report was funded School Choice Wisconsin a pro-voucher group.
