UW alumni overwhelming have positive memories of their alma mater, according to the findings of new survey.

The study from the American Council on Education surveyed 400 alums from each of the 11 four-year UW campuses. System spokesman David Giroux says it found 94 percent felt their education was worth the time and money, while 98 percent still had a favorable impression of their school.

The survey questioned former students in the 25 to 39 age range, with the goal of reaching out to those in the thick of their professional career who were also far enough removed from college. It was part of a national survey conducted by ACE.

Giroux says nearly 85 percent of alumni survey believe their time at UW gave them the skills they needed for work after college, while 81 percent said they would go back to their alma mater and do it all over again.

In a time of budget cuts and rising enrollment, Giroux says the real test now will be to make sure future alums offer the same glowing reviews.
