A survey of Wisconsin businesses shows just over one quarter plan to add more employees over the second quarter of the year, while just four percent expect layoffs between April and June.

The Manpower Group’s Employment Outlook Survey shows 26 percent of Wisconsin employers plan to expand their workforces. Spokeswoman Kathy Joblinske says that gives the state a “net employment outlook” of 22 percent, which is an improvement from 16 percent in the First Quarter survey. Still, she notes it’s a little bit “sluggish” when compared to the result from a similar survey at this time last year, which showed an outlook of 26 percent.

More than 11,000 employers across the U.S. were surveyed by Manpower. Overall, 22 percent said they expect to add to their workforces in the second quarter of the year.
