A court appearance is expected on Friday for the former Dane County deputy accused of murdering his wife and sister-in-law.
39-year-old Andy Steele has been released from a Milwaukee medical facility and is now in the Rock County jail. He’s being held there to avoid a conflict of interest because he was with the Dane County Sheriff’s Department for 14 years. Steele retired in June after being diagnosed with ALS.
Last Friday, he allegedly shot and killed his wife Ashlee and her sister, Kacee Tollefsbol of Minnesota. Steele also suffered injuries from an apparent suicide attempt, and had been hospitalized at a Milwaukee medical facility since then.
He’ll appear in court via closed circuit TV.
A memorial service for the sisters is also being held on Friday in Minnesota.
