Green Bay’s season ends in conference tournament

February 29, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Phoenix picked the wrong time to see its 5-game win streak come to an end.  The Phoenix saw their season come to an end in the opening round of the Horizon League Tournament, falling 77-60 at Youngstown State.

The Penguins hit 8 first-half 3-pointers and cruised to the first round tournament victory.

It’s the second straight season the Phoenix (15-15) made a first round exit from the conference tournament.

Sophomore Alex Brown scored 20 points (9 of 14 FG) and was the only Green Bay player to reach double figures.

Green Bay entered the tournament with 5-straight wins and victories in 8 of their last 10 games.  The Phoenix failed to post a winning record for the second straight season.
