Trade will help Bucks with playoff push

March 14, 2012 By Bill Scott

The NBA trade deadline is coming up on Thursday and the Milwaukee Bucks

Andrew Bogut

and General Manager John Hammond wasted no time in working a deal to try to improve the team’s playoff possibilities.

The Bucks sent Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson to the Golden State Warriors  for Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Ellis is the key figure in the deal for the Bucks.  He’s averaging better than 19 points and 6 assists per game this season.

The Bucks actually get players that can help them down the stretch as they try to make a playoff push.  Ellis brings scoring with him, to partner with Brandon Jennings in the backcourt.  They were getting nothing from an injured Andrew Bogut or from Stephen Jackson who has been collecting dust on the Bucks bench for much of the season.

There could be more in the hopper for the Bucks in the trade department with the deadline coming up tomorrow.

Bucks without Bogut indefinitely

January 27, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks learned on Thursday that they would be without center Andrew Bogut indefinitely.

The 2005 t0p overall pick suffered a fractured foot in Wednesday’s victory at Houston while coming down awkwardly on a Houston player’s foot.  An MRI found the fracture in Bogut’s left ankle on Thursday.

Bogut was playing his 400th career NBA game and is averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds a game this season.

Bogut missed the end of the 2009-10 season when he dislocated his right elbow, sprained his right wrist and broke his right hand in a hard fall to the floor.

He also missed 43 games, including the final 31, with an injured lower back in the 2008-09 season.
