The Wisconsin Badgers men’s hockey team (1-3-1) fell to Colorado College (4-3-0) in dramatic fashion as they lost in overtime, 5-4.

The Badgers, who before the game honored “Badger” Bob Johnson, jumped to an early 2-0 lead at the end of the first period with goals from junior forward Michael Mersch at the 1:29 mark, and a goal from sophomore forward Brad Navin at the 12:33 mark.

Colorado College fought back in the second period and had scored two goals scored by freshman forward Hunter Fejes at the 6:35 mark and senior defender Mike Boivin at the 8:22 mark.

The start of the third period had the teams tied at 2-2 and saw a four goal third period. The Badgers struck first, scoring 54 seconds into the start of the third period.

The Badgers could not hold onto the lead, allowing Colorado College’s William Rapuzzi to tie the game at the 10:54 mark after converting the game-tying, breakaway goal.
