Bucks Fall to Atlanta 116-113

The Milwaukee Bucks struggled shooting from 3-point range and struggled defending the Atlanta Hawks star offensive player in a 116-113 loss in Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Trae young scored 48 points on 17-34 shooting for Atlanta, who has won the first game of all three of their playoff series this postseason.   Clint Capela converted a go-ahead put-back with 29.8 seconds left, and Khris Middleton missed a game tying 3-pointer in the final seconds.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 34 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists for the Bucks.  Jrue Holiday added 33 points and 10 assists.

It was the first time the Hawks have won a Conference Finals game since moving to Atlanta in 1968.

Game Two is Friday at 7:30 CT.

Bucks blownout by Brooklyn

The Milwaukee Bucks never got into a rhythm Monday night and dropped game two of their second round playoff series to the Brooklyn Nets 125-86.  Brooklyn leads the series two games to none.

Nets star Kevin Durant scored 32 points in three quarters and Brooklyn led by as much as 49 points. They led 39-16 after the first quarter and 65-41 at halftime.  Kyrie Irving had 22 points.  All this without star James Harden, who sat out with a tight right hamstring.

Brooklyn shot 52 percent and was 21-42 from 3-point range.  The Bucks were 8-27 from downtown.  Giannis Antetokounmpo paced the Bucks with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Game Three will be in Milwaukee Thursday night.

Bucks acquire Tucker from Houston

The Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday added to their frontcourt by acquiring 35 year old P.J. Tucker from the Houston Rockets.

Forward Rodions Kurucs is also coming to Milwaukee, along with a 2022 first-round pick.  The Rockets are receiving guard D.J. Augustin and forward D.J Wilson along with the Bucks 2021 first-round pick.

Tucker is averaging 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season, and is a 36 percent three-point shooter in his career.

Giannis, Bucks beat Sixers in OT

The Bucks needed overtime, but it was worth it as they got a big Eastern Conference road win against the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night 109-105.

Milwaukee shot just 26.7 percent (12-45) in the first half but got hot in the second, finishing at 40 percent for the night.  Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 32 points, 15 rebounds on 13-22 shooting.  Dante DiVincenzo finished with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Bucks had built a seven-point lead in the final minute of the fourth quarter, before Sixers guard Furkan Korkmaz hit a 3-point shot to tie the game 0.4 seconds remaining.  Milwaukee outscored Philadelphia 16-12 in the overtime period.

The Bucks are 26-14 and trail Brooklyn by a game and a half for the top seed in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.  Milwaukee hosts the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.

Bucks Open Summer League

The Milwaukee Bucks summer league team opens its season Friday afternoon in Las Vegas against the Philadelphia 76ers. They will take on Atlanta, Minnesota and the Chinese National Team over the next week-plus.

If the Bucks don’t qualify for the eight team tournament, they will play one consolation game.

Among the notable on the roster are third year players Sterling Brown and D.J. Wilson.  Bonzie Colson, and Xavier Munford are also on the roster.  The Bucks 2018 first round pick, Donte DiVincenzo will not be part of the team.  DiVincenzo is still coming back from a season ending injury.
