Bucks don’t land Smith, get Redick instead (Video)

February 22, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks were the final team that had a chance to land Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith.  The Hawks decided to keep Smith and the Bucks were able to pull off a deadline deal by acquiring guard J.J. Redick in a 6-player deal with the Orlando Magic.

With 29 games left, the Bucks are clinging to the NBA’s 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  They’ve lost 8 of the last 10 games overall and in need of a shot in the arm.

Redick, who averaged a career best 15.4 points in 50-games with Orlando, give the Bucks some much needed offense in what will now be a solid 3-guard rotation with Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis.

The Bucks also obtained forward Gustavo Ayon and guard Ish Smith from the Magic, sending veteran Beno Udrih and youngsters Tobias Harris and Doron Lamb to Orlando.

Redick is in the final year of his contract, which means he could just be a rental for the rest of the season.  Of course, the Bucks could attempt to sign him to a long term deal this summer.

Redick adds a legitimate long range threat.  He’s shooting a career-best 45% from the field and 39% from three point range.  The Bucks currently rank 21st in the NBA in 3-point shooting accuracy at 34.8%.

Redick and the Bucks will host Josh Smith and the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.

Bucks end 4-game preseason slide, win in Charlotte

October 25, 2012 By Bill Scott

Rookie Doron Lamb scored all 12 of his points in the second half, including 10 points in the 4th quarter, as the Milwaukee Bucks erased a 20-point 3rd quarter deficit in a 100-90 Bucks victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.

Lamb played his first game after recovering from a left elbow injury during an informal workout in late September.  He finished 6 for 11 from the field.

The Bucks used the 42nd overall pick on Lamb, after he helped lead Kentucky to the NCAA Championship.

The Bucks will close out exhibition play Friday night when they face the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

Bucks’ Henson suffers knee sprain (Bucks injury report)

October 17, 2012 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks rookie 1st round draft pick John Henson will be limited to non-impact activity for approximately two weeks after suffering a left knee sprain and bone bruise in Tuesday night’s 100-94 preseason loss to the Chicago Bulls.  Henson’s non-impact activity will involve rehabilitation work in the swimming pool and on a stationary bike, along with weight room exercises.

Ekpe Udoh (left knee strain) returned to full basketball activity after missing two games.  He is probably for Thursday night’s game against Memphis in La Crosse.

Forward Luc Mbah a Moute continues to rehabilitate his right knee after off-season surgery and remains out for tomorrow’s game.

Rookie second round pick Doron Lamb (left elbow strain) has begun limited basketball activity and remains out for Thursday’s game.

Bucks Training Camp: Lamb is out

October 3, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks opened their Training Camp doors on Tuesday without second-round pick Doron Lamb.

Lamb sat out with a left elbow injury.  The former Kentucky start isn’t expected to return for several weeks.  He was injured during informal drills last week when he ran into a screen set by center Joel Przybilla and got his arm caught in a jersey.

Head coach Scott Skiles said Lamb has a ligament issue in his elbow and it’s going to be awhile.
