Bennett rips Packers after returning to New England

November 11, 2017 By Bill Scott

It didn’t take long for Martellus Bennett to find a new home after the Green Bay Packers waived him on Wednesday.  He was claimed by New England on Thursday and was on the practice field with the Patriots on Friday.  But the story doesn’t end there.

On Instagram, Bennett claimed that the Packers knew of his worsening shoulder injury but tried to get him to continue to play.  Bennett claimed the Packers releasing him had all to do about money.

In his post, Bennett claimed team physician Dr. Patrick McKenzie tried to persuade him to play thru a major injury.  Packer players didn’t have much to say about Bennett’s Instagram post, but they did show support for McKenzie.

The Packers physician is known to be more conservative with regards to players returning to action after being injured.  He care’s about the player’s health and well-being and supports their best interests, not that of the team.  Bennett’s claims towards McKenzie definitely go against the norm.

What doesn’t add up is Bennett saying he wanted to have surgery to repair his rotator cuff, but as soon as he was claimed by New England, those plans have all of a sudden changed.  Bennett is practicing with the Patriots and appears to be ready to play the second half of the season in New England.

The Packers return to action Sunday when they face the Bears in a noon kickoff in Chicago.

Thursday is decision day for Rodgers and the Packers

December 25, 2013 By Bill Scott

Green Bay Packers are expected to make their decision known by tomorrow whether or not Aaron Rodgers will be quarterbacking the Packers on

Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Rodgers underwent a scan this week and it’s now up to Dr. Pat McKenzie and the Packers organization to decide if his broken collarbone has healed sufficiently to allow him to play Sunday in the winner-take-all contest against the Bears.

The Packers had today (Christmas Day) off and will return to the practice field on Thursday.  Rodgers hopes to be taking all of the snaps with the first team offense when that time comes.

Rodgers broke his collarbone against Chicago back on November 4th.  The Packers are 2-5-1 since then.  They’re 7-7-1 entering play Sunday and it’s hard to believe they’re still in position to control their own destiny.  But the Lions and Bears have struggled right along with the Packers.

Detroit was in the best position after beating the Packers on Thanksgiving Day, but they went on to drop 5 out of the last 6 games and have since been eliminated from playoff contention.

On his radio show this week (540 ESPN Milwaukee), Rodgers wouldn’t say whether he was optimistic he would be cleared this week, but he went into more detail with regards to the process, including his slow recovery and his relationship with team physician Patrick McKenzie and head coach Mike McCarthy.

Rodgers said one way or the other, there will be a decision on Thursday

to knock the rust off prior to the start of the playoffs.

Head coach Mike McCarthy declared him out of Sunday’s game at Minnesota because team doctors still aren’t satisfied with the condition of his collarbone.

Woodson has been running pass routes on the scout team in practice but hasn’t worked in the team portion of practice.
