Bucks set to meet with Wade on Wednesday

July 5, 2016 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks logo 11The Milwaukee Bucks have scheduled a meeting with free-agent guard Dwyane Wade on Wednesday in New York City.

Wade has played 13 seasons with the Miami Heat but several teams have shown interest in him, including the Bucks and the Denver Nuggets.  The Heat reportedly made a two-year, $40 million offer to Wade on Monday.  That offer includes a player option for a second year.

The Bucks would have to make a move to create cap room to sign Wade, possibly dealing center Greg Monroe.  Monroe has two years left on his current deal in Milwaukee, but the final year is a player option.

Wade played his college ball in Milwaukee at Marquette.  he was the fifth overall pick in the 2003 draft.

In desperate need of a win after six straight losses, the Milwaukee Bucks rallied to beat the Miami Heat 89-88 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center Tuesday night.

Milwaukee trailed 85-71 before scoring 14 straight points, part of an 18-3 run to close out the game, which ended in dramatic fashion.

Down by two guard Jerryd Bayless forced a jump ball against the Heat’s Michael Beasley with just over 10 seconds remaining, then won the jump despite giving up six inches in height. After Bayless missed a layup, Zaza Pachulia saved the ball right to Khris Middleton, who buried the game-winning three-pointer. [Read more…]

Hours after Dwyane Wade pulled out of the NBA All-Star game and lobbied for Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Knight, league commissioner Adam Silver selected Atlanta’s Kyle Korver to take Wade’s place on the Eastern Conference team.

Knight was hoping to become the Bucks’ first representative in the All-Star game in 11 years.  The last Bucks player to play in the game was Michael Redd in 2004.

Korver is the fourth Atlanta Hawks player to be selected for the Feb. 15th game at Madison Square Garden.  He is hitting 51.6% from the field, 52.8% from three-point range and 92% from the free-throw line. [Read more…]

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has pulled out of the NBA All-Star game because of a hamstring injury that he suffered against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 27th.

Wade hasn’t played in the last six games and isn’t scheduled to go against Cleveland on Wednesday.  After last night’s Miami game, Wade threw his support to Bucks guard Brandon Knight as his replacement.

Knight and Atlanta guard Kyle Korver are the likely top candidates to replace Wade.  NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will decide Wade’s replacement.

Knight is averaging a team-leading 17.7 points and 5.4 assists in 51 games.

Bucks start road trip at Miami tonight!

April 9, 2013 By Bill Scott

With six games left in the regular season, the Milwaukee Bucks trail the Boston Celtics by 2 1/2 games for the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference playoff chase.  The Bucks are in Miami to face the Heat tonight, their likely first round opponent in the playoffs in two weeks.

Miami has a 2-1 advantage in the season series against the Bucks, but Milwaukee just might catch a break.  The Heat may be looking to rest some of its starters for the upcoming playoffs.  Dwayne Wade said Sunday that he might sit out the remainder of the regular season to rest his sore right knee.

The Heat is 60-16 on the season.  They’re 1-win away from tying their franchise record 61 victories, set in the 1996-97 season.

The Bucks will have their hands full with road games this week.  They’ll also travel to Orlando on Wednesday, Atlanta on Friday and Charlotte on Saturday.
