NBA Trade deadline is today

February 20, 2014 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks will host the Denver Nuggets in NBA action at the Bradley Center tonight.  Before that game tips tonight, there’s a chance the Bucks roster could take on a slightly different look.

The Bucks have veteran players that they are likely willing to unload, starting with guard Gary Neal, as well as Luke Ridnour and Caron Butler.

Ridnour has started 12 of 36 games that he’s appeared in, averaging 5.7 points and 3.4 assists a game.

The Bucks are looking for young players and possibly draft picks to help them down the road.  There’s always a chance that the Bucks will do nothing before the 2pm (CT) league deadline, but GM John Hammond’s track record likely says otherwise.  Hammond has made deals in three of the last four years.

Bucks forced into point guard by committee

November 1, 2013 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks point guards Brandon Knight and Luke Ridnour are doubtful for tonight’s game in Boston against the Celtics.

That means, Bucks head coach Larry Drew will be forced to play point-guard by committee, going with O.J. Mayo, Gary Neal and rookie Nate Wolters.

Neal played some point guard in Wednesday’s season opening loss to the Knicks.  He scored 16 points and dished out 5 assists.  Wolters also played 30-minutes and scored 9 points.

The Celtics are playing their home opener against the Bucks tonight.  They lost their season opener at Toronto on Wednesday.

The Bucks will play their home opener against Toronto on Saturday night.

fall behind by 25 points before losing 90-83 to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

The Bucks lost starting point guard Brandon Knight to a hamstring injury early in the first quarter.  Meanwhile, veteran point guard Luke Ridnour was already a pregame scratch because of back spasms.  That left rookie second round draft pick Nate Wolters to run the ship.

Wolters played 30 minutes, scoring nine points and dishing out four assists.  Gary Neal also played the point as well, scoring a team high 16 points and adding five assists. [Read more…]

Bucks agree to 2-year deal with former Spur, Gary Neal

July 28, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks have reached agreement on a two-year free agent deal with unrestricted free agent guard Gary Neal.  The deal is worth a reported $6.5-million.

In 68-games for the Spurs last season, Neal averaged 9.5 points a game.  He’s averaged 9.7 points a game in three NBA seasons, shooting 43% from the field and nearly 40% from three-point range.

Neal is the 5th free agent that the Bucks have signed this month, joining O.J. Mayo, Zaza Pachulia, Carlos Delfino and 7-1 center Miroslav Raduljica.
