Bucks fall to Clippers, Redick pours in 31

December 10, 2015 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks logo 10J.J. Redick poured in 31 points, 15 of them in the third quarter as the Los Angeles Clippers pulled out a 109-95 win over the Milwaukee Bucks at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Wednesday night.

Redick, who returned from injury the game before, made just 1 of 9 from the field at Minnesota. so this was a big rebound game for him.  He finished 6 of 9 from three-point range and 11 of 18 from the field overall.

Redick played with the Bucks for 28 games in 2013.  He said there was no revenge factor last night against his former team because he wasn’t with the Bucks long enough.

Blake Griffin added 21 points and 14 rebounds, Chris Paul had 18 points and 18 assists.  Center DeAndre Jordan pulled down a game-high 19 rebounds.

The Bucks (9-14) got 20 points and 11 rebounds from Michael Carter-Williams.  Greg Monroe added 16 points and 10 rebounds while Giannis Antetokounmpo added 15 points.

The Bucks practice today and face the Raptors in Toronto on Friday night.  Then they return home to face Golden State on Saturday night.

NBA free agency is underway

July 1, 2013 By Bill Scott

NBA free agency is officially underway and the Milwaukee Bucks say they’ll put the full court press on point guard Brandon Jennings to return to the team.

Jennings is a restricted free agent and the Bucks have made a $4.3-million qualifying offer to Jennings last week to retain the right to match any offer from another NBA team.

General Manager John Hammond has said the Bucks plan to sign the 23-year old Jennings to a long-term contract or match any offer if an agreement can’t be reached.

Free agent shooting guard J.J. Redick isn’t expected to return to the Bucks.

Bucks hold two picks, Berggren hopes to be drafted

June 27, 2013 By Bill Scott

The 2013 NBA Draft is tonight form Radio City Music Hall in New York.  The Cleveland Cavaliers hold the top pick with Orlando and Washington rounding out the top 3.

The Milwaukee Bucks have a pair of selections tonight; 15th overall in the first round and 43rd overall in the second round.  With Monta Ellis opting out of his deal, Brandon Jennings becoming a restricted free agent, and J.J Redick becoming an unrestricted free agent, it’s easy to believe guard will be the way the Bucks go.  General Manager John Hammond is in the same line of thinking, but can’t guarantee that is what will happen…

Bucks put out of their misery quickly

April 29, 2013 By Bill Scott

As expected, the Milwaukee Bucks post-season last just 4-games.  The defending NBA Champion Miami Heat pulled off the 4-game sweep with an 88-77 win on Sunday at the Bradley Center.

Miami won all four games in the series by double digits and hardly broke a sweat.  The Heat pulled out a playoff sweep for the first time with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

James scored 30 points, pulled down 8 rebounds and dished out 7 assists in the win.

The Bucks managed to keep it close for a while, but the Heat went on a 19-5 4th quarter run to break it open. [Read more…]

Bucks face Miami in game 2 tonight

April 23, 2013 By Bill Scott

If the Milwaukee Bucks have any chance of knocking off the Miami Heat tonight in game 2 of their best-of-7 series, they’re going to need more production from players other than Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis.

Jennings and Ellis combined to score 48 points in the series opening loss (110-87) on Sunday night.  The problem is, no other player scored more than 6 points and the rest of the team combined for just 39 points.

Mike Dunleavy and J.J. Redick are the two best scorers after Jennings and Ellis but they combined for 5 and 6 points respectively on Sunday night.  They’ll need to pick things up in game 2 tonight.

Ersan Ilyasova also needs to bring something to the party tonight.  Ilyasova scored just 2 points in the series opener.

Following tonight’s game, the Bucks return to the BMO Harris Bradley Center for games 3 and 4.

Bucks don’t land Smith, get Redick instead (Video)

February 22, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks were the final team that had a chance to land Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith.  The Hawks decided to keep Smith and the Bucks were able to pull off a deadline deal by acquiring guard J.J. Redick in a 6-player deal with the Orlando Magic.

With 29 games left, the Bucks are clinging to the NBA’s 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  They’ve lost 8 of the last 10 games overall and in need of a shot in the arm.

Redick, who averaged a career best 15.4 points in 50-games with Orlando, give the Bucks some much needed offense in what will now be a solid 3-guard rotation with Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis.

The Bucks also obtained forward Gustavo Ayon and guard Ish Smith from the Magic, sending veteran Beno Udrih and youngsters Tobias Harris and Doron Lamb to Orlando.

Redick is in the final year of his contract, which means he could just be a rental for the rest of the season.  Of course, the Bucks could attempt to sign him to a long term deal this summer.

Redick adds a legitimate long range threat.  He’s shooting a career-best 45% from the field and 39% from three point range.  The Bucks currently rank 21st in the NBA in 3-point shooting accuracy at 34.8%.

Redick and the Bucks will host Josh Smith and the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.
