Lang expected to miss several weeks

November 16, 2016 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers start their preparations today for Sunday’s prime time matchup against the Washington Redskins and they expect to be without another starter.

Right guard T.J. Lang left Sunday’s game with what was thought to be an ankle injury.  But Lang said Tuesday that the injury is a foot injury, not the ankle.  He expressed his disappointment after saying he expects to miss several weeks moving forward.

The Packers are already playing without starting center J.C. Tretter and left tackle David Bakhtiari left last week’s game with a knee injury.  Bakhtiari said Monday that he expects to be day-to-day and wouldn’t rule out playing Sunday night.

Don Barclay expects to move into Lang’s spot at right guard.

Goodson sidelined by concussion

November 3, 2016 By Bill Scott

Quinten Rollins

Quinten Rollins

The Green Bay Packers are without another defensive back.  Demetri Goodson didn’t practice Wednesday and was listed on the injury report with a concussion.  Goodson joins Sam Shields, Damarious Randall, Quinten Rollins and Josh Hawkins, all who have lost time to injury.

Rollins returned to practice on Wednesday but was limited.  He’s already missed three games and there’s no guarantee he’ll be ready to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

If Goodson and Rollins can’t play, the Packers will be as thin as they’ve been all year.  It would leave the Packers with LaDarius Gunter, Micah Hyde and Josh Hawkins. [Read more…]

Sitton signs 3-year deal with the Bears

September 5, 2016 By Bill Scott

Josh Sitton

Josh Sitton

Just one day after the Green Bay Packers released him, three-time Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton agreed to a three-year deal with the Chicago Bears.

Sitton’s deal is reportedly worth $21.5-million over three years, including a $10 million signing bonus.

The 30-year old Sitton was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, but the Packers were looking to likely move on after this season.  Now, the Packers are moving on without Sitton and saving $6.55 million, giving them more salary cap space to try to resign other players that are set to become free agents after the season.

Starters T.J. Lang, J.C. Tretter and David Bakhtiari are all set to become free agents at the end of the season.

Bakhtiari expected to return for Packers tonight

Left tackle David Bakhtiari, who missed three straight games with an ankle injury, is expected to return to the lineup for the Green Bay Packers when they face Arizona in the NFC Divisional Playoffs.

Bakhtiari sat out Friday’s practice, but was listed as probable on the Packers latest injury report.  In his absence, the Packers used Don Barclay, Josh Sitton and J.C. Tretter.  Tretter held his own in last week’s wildcard win at Washington.  Barclay and Sitton struggled previously.

Bakhtiari’s return means the Packers will have all five of their preferred starters in the lineup for the first time in weeks. [Read more…]

Tretter injures knee, will miss multiple weeks (AUDIO)

JC Tretter

Center JC Tretter was supposed to be the Packers fourth starting center in the last four years.  Tretter will still get his shot at some point this season, but the 2nd year player out of Cornell suffered a knee injury and will miss what Mike McCarthy said would be “multiple weeks.”

Tretter was injured in the first quarter of Friday’s 31-21 win over the Oakland Raiders but was cleared by the team’s medical staff to stay in the game.  He ended up playing 45 snaps.

Tretter’s knee acted at half time and the Packers re-examined him and put him on crutches.

Rookie fifth-round draft pick Corey Linsley, out of Ohio State took over on Friday and will step in now, to start the season against the Seattle Seahawks a week from Thursday.

The Packers did everything to get Tretter ready for opening night.  He took every snap at center with the number-1 offense and was having a good training camp.  Now the Packers have less than two weeks to get Linsley ready to go. [Read more…]

Packers add Tretter to active roster

December 11, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers added rookie offensive lineman J.C. Tretter to the active 53-man roster on Tuesday and placed wide receiver Myles White on injured reserve.

Tretter is the team’s fourth-round pick out of Cornell.  He suffered a fracture in his fibula and torn ligaments in his ankle the first day of OTA’s on May 20 and started the season on the physically unable to perform list.

Tretter has worked at center during practice for the past few weeks.  That would make him the likely backup if something were to happen to starter Evan Dietrich-Smith.

The Packers had to make a decision on Tretter by yesterday.

August 27, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers made their roster moves, getting down to the 75 player limit by 3pm this afternoon.

The Packers released kicker Zach Ramirez after he lost his brief training camp battle with Mason Crosby.

Both kickers hit missed just once on Sunday, but Crosby bounced back with a perfect 16 for 16 effort today, while Ramirez his just 6 of 16 from a variety of distances.

The Packers also put T Bryan Bulaga, WR Kevin Dorsey, RB DuJuan Harris and LB Jarvis Reed on injured reserve.

Safety Sean Richardson, T Derek Sherrod, T JC Tretter and DE Jerel Worthy were all placed on reserve/physically unable to perform.
