The Bucks informed interim coach Jim Boylan yesterday that he would not be back next season.  Boylan, who took over for Scott Skiles on January 8th, went 22-32 (including playoffs) as the Bucks were swept out of the Eastern Conference Playoffs in 4-games by Miami. [Read more…]

John Hammond

John Hammond

for three years, through the 2015-16 season.

Hammond originally took over in April of 2008 and was the league’s executive of the year during the 2009-10 season.  this season, the Bucks are 22-18, 3-games behind Indiana.

All-Star Reserves

The NBA releases the reserves tonight for the upcoming NBA all-star game.

Bucks guards Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis will find out if enough NBA coaches put their names down on the ballot.  Coach Jim Boylan was pushing for his two starting guards last week, saying the Bucks are winning and both players are a big reason why.

Bucks open regular season tonight

November 2, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks open the regular season tonight when they face the Celtics at TD Garden in Boston.

Boston lost Ray Allen in free agency to Miami, but the Celtics have added the likes of Jason Terry, Courtney Lee and Leandro Barbosa.  Both Terry and Barbosa are former NBA Sixth Man of the Year award winners.

This is a big year for Bucks coach Scott Skiles and General Manager John Hammond, both of whom are in the last year of their contracts.  Both could be in jeopardy if the Bucks don’t make a return trip into the postseason.

The Celtics have won 14 of the last 17 games played between the two teams.

Following tonight’s opener, the Bucks return home to host Cleveland on Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Hammond and Skiles thrilled to have Dalembert (AUDIO)

July 3, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks introduced one of their new faces Monday morning.  Samuel Dalemebert was traded to Milwaukee from Houston last week for Jon Leuer, Shaun Livingston and John Brockman.  The deal also included a swap of draft picks, Houston got the 12th pick and Milwaukee the 14th pick.

Dalembert is a true center, something Milwaukee lacked last year once Andrew Bogut went down with injury and was traded to Golden State leaving a void for this season.  General Manger John Hammond is happy to have him…

Bucks acquire Dalembert, swap picks with Rockets

June 27, 2012 By Bill Scott

Earlier this week, Milwaukee Bucks general manager John Hammond indicated that it was unlikely the Bucks would trade out of

John Hammond

the 12th spot in Thursday nights NBA Draft.  That all changed today when the Bucks pulled off a trade with the Houston Rockets.

The Bucks sent their 12th pick in the first round, along with Shaun Livingston, Jon Brockman and Jon Leuer to the Rockets for their 14th pick in the first round and 6’11 big man Samuel Dalembert.

Dalembert averaged 7.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in 65 games for the Rockets last season, including 45 starts.  He gives the Bucks a defensive and shot-blocking presence in the middle.  He averaged 1.7 blocks a game last season to rank 10th in the NBA.  Dalembert averaged 1.9 blocks per game over his career.

Dalembert played college ball at Seton Hall and was the 26th pick in the 2001 draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Bucks latching onto a big man 1-day before the draft might indicate that they’re looking elsewhere in tomorrow nights draft, possibly for a shooting guard.

The 6’10 Leuer was the Bucks second round pick out of Wisconsin last season.  He appeared in 46 games for the Bucks as a rookie and averaged 4.7 points and 2.6 rebounds a game last season.

NBA Draft lottery is tonight!

May 30, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks will learn their draft fate tonight when the NBA holds its

John Hammond

annual Draft Lottery.  The Bucks have only a 2.54% chance of moving up from the 12th spot and landing one of the top three picks in the June 28th Draft.

Bucks general manager John Hammond said even if the Bucks don’t move up from #12, they do believe this draft is deep and the Bucks should be able to get some help.

The team that lands the top pick in tonight’s lottery will likely be keeping the seat warm for Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis who is projected to be the top pick in the draft.

The Charlotte Bobcats finished with the worst season in NBA history.  Charlotte has a 25% chance of victory, after finishing 7-59 last season.

Not since 2004, when the Orlando Magic drafted Dwight Howard, has the team with the worst record won the lottery.

Bucks close season with loss, will Skiles return?

April 27, 2012 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks GM John Hammond and head coach Scott Skiles both

Scott Skiles

have one year remaining on their contracts.  Hammond figures to be back with the team next season, but there’s speculation that Skiles may not get that final year on the court.

The Bucks lost their season finale 87-74 in Boston last night, finishing 31-35.  They were eliminated from playoff contention on Monday.

Skiles will sit down with Bucks owner, Senator Herb Kohl soon.  That meeting could come as early as today.

Skiles record as Bucks head coach is 146-166 over four seasons.  His best record came in 2009-10 when the Bucks reached the playoffs with a 46-36 record.

The Bucks players are doing exit interviews this morning and clearing out their lockers.  We should learn just exactly what’s in store for Hammond and Skiles as well.
