Jimmy Nelson walked a career-high eight walks in just 3 1/3 innings as the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Cleveland Indians 6-2 on Wednesday night.
Nelson pitched through a steady rain, allowing five runs on four hits while striking out four to fall to 10-10 on the season. Nelson’s personal four-game win streak came to an end. His last loss came on July 10.
The Brewers lost their four straight game overall, finishing 1-4 on their five-game road trip.
Milwaukee grabbed an early lead when Khris Davis clubbed a solo home run in the second inning off of Cody Anderson. It’s the 10th home run in the month of August for Davis, who increased his season total to 17 home runs.
The Brewers had a good chance late when Jonathan Lucroy doubled and Ryan Braun singled to lead off the inning. But Adam Lind, Khris Davis and Domingo Santana all struck out to leave the deficit at three.
The Brewers are off today. They’ll open a three-game series against Cincinnati at Miller Park on Friday night.
