Hill leaving Wisconsin basketball

April 12, 2017 By Bill Scott

Jordan Hill

Redshirt junior guard Jordan Hill has decided to leave the Wisconsin men’s basketball program and has been granted his release to explore transfer options.  Hill is set to graduate from the UW in May.

The native of Pasadena, California appeared in 75 games with one start during his career in Madison.  But his opportunities went decreased this season.  He averaged just 9.9 minutes a game and averaged 1.5 points and 1.1 rebounds.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to spend four years studying and playing at Wisconsin,” Hill said.  “In May, I will be graduating with an incredible degree from a world class institution.  Making the decision to leave the program was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do in life, but I had to make the best decision for myself.”

The unranked Wisconsin Badgers won for the ninth time in their last ten games, knocking off 8th-ranked Iowa 67-59 at Carver Hawkeye Arena on Wednesday night.

Wisconsin became the first team to knock off the Hawkeyes in Iowa City this season and at ten-and-five in the Big Ten, clinched a winning conference record for the 16th straight season, equaling the longest streak in Big Ten history (Purdue also had a run of 16 straight seasons from 1972-88).

The Badgers (18-10, 10-5 Big Ten) outscored Iowa, eight-to-one, over the final one minute 40 seconds to notch their second road win against a top-10 team this season.  It’s the first time Wisconsin has accomplished that since 1955.

The Badgers bench outscored the Hawkeyes bench 23-4.  Khalil Iverson and Jordan Hill scored nine points each while Charlie Thomas added five points. [Read more…]

The Wisconsin Badgers jumped out to a 21-point halftime lead and extended that lead to 30 early in the second half.  They then held on to pull out a 84-79 win over the Green Bay Phoenix at the Kohl Center, giving Greg Gard a win in his interim head coaching debut.

The Badgers almost blew a big lead and turned the ball over a season-high 26 times in their final non-conference tune-up before the start of Big Ten play.

Gard said he wasn’t proud of his teams sloppy play in the second half, but he was thrilled with the transition his players made after Bo Ryan stepped down last week.

The Badgers had 16 second half turnovers, after entering the game averaging just 10.8. [Read more…]
