February 4, 2021 By Bill Scott

With a six-game road trip on the horizon, the Milwaukee Bucks were able to rest players and coast to victory over division foe Indiana, 130-110 on Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum.

Giannis Antetokounmpo didn’t play in the fourth quarter, yet the reigning two-time MVP notched his third triple-double of the season, 21 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in the win.  Antetokounmpo hit 7 of 8 field goal attempts and was 7 for 8 from the free throw line.  In his last two games, Giannis combined to go 15 for 19 from the field and hasn’t attempted a three-point shot.

As a team, the Bucks hit 21 of 48 from 3-point range and have now made at least 20 3-pointers in five of their 21 games this season, which is a franchise record. [Read more…]

Bucks win third straight, knock off Pistons

January 7, 2021 By Bill Scott

Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 25 points and Khris Middleton added 23 as six Milwaukee Bucks scored in double figures in a 130-115 win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum.

The Bucks shot 44% from three-point range, including a 63% clip in the first half (12 of 19).  They also set a season high with 35 assists.

The Bucks also got some solid bench production (51 points), led by Bobby Portis (16 points) and rookie Jordan Nwora (11 points).

Milwaukee (5-3) extended its winning streak to three games overall and nine straight over the Pistons (1-7).  They led by as many as 34 points in the third quarter.

After the opening tip, Giannis Antetokounmpo rolled the ball out of bounds and both teams knelt.  Blake Griffin then took the inbound and he rolled the ball out of bounds as well as both teams knelt.  The moves were a demonstration of solidarity in the continuing awareness to social justice causes and police brutality.  It comes after the Kenosha County District Attorney didn’t bring charges against police in the August 23 shooting of Jacob Blake.

Bucks get two players in second round of NBA Draft

November 19, 2020 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks got a couple of pair of shooters in the second round of the NBA Draft on Wednesday night.

The Bucks selected 6’7 swing player Jordan Nwora with the 45th overall pick out of Louisville.  New Orleans used the 60th pick to select 6’5 guard Sam Merrill out of Utah State.  He’ll end up in Milwaukee with the Bucks as a part of the deal involving Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday.

Nwora averaged 18.0 points and 7.7 rebounds a game last season with the Cardinals, shooting 40.2% from long range.

Nwora also played for Nigeria in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in June of 2018, averaging 21.7 points, 8 rebounds and 2.7 assists over three games.

Merrill, at the age of 24, is the oldest player selected in the draft.  During his four seasons at Utah State, he shot 42% from distance.  Last season, he averaged 19.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists as a senior.
