The Green Bay Phoenix had just played five-straight road games and ten of their last 12 away from the Resch Center, and the Milwaukee Panthers were wrapping up a five-game road trip, facing their rivals on Monday night.

The two teams were clearly road weary and their offense came in spurts.  In the end, the Phoenix played the cleaner game and held off the Panthers 70-68 to move into 4th place in the Horizon League, in front of the Panthers.  The Phoenix evened the season series with the two games being decided by a total of three points.

The Panthers had a couple of chances at the end of the game, with the Phoenix leading by two.  Brock Stull and Austin Arians missed three-pointers in the final eight seconds. [Read more…]

Jordan Fouse recorded a double-double for the sixth straight game and the Green Bay men’s basketball team held off Northern Kentucky 85-78 in Horizon League play on Thursday night.

Green Bay (14-9, 6-4 HL) needed some clutch free throws late to seal the win and secure the season sweep against the Norse (8-14, 4-7 HL).  After NKU knocked down a three-pointer with 51 seconds left to cut the Green Bay lead to four, Fouse made a pair of free throws and Turner Botz added another to hold off the Norse.

Fouse finished with 14 points and ten rebounds, notching his 15th career double-double and his seventh this season.  Fouse also registered four steals, the last of which tied him with Terry Evans for the all-time career record at Green Bay.  Fouse now sits on 237 career steals, needing just one more to take over the top spot. Panthers four-game win streak comes to an end

December 18, 2015 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Panthers logoFormer Madison Memorial standout Tre Brunette’s running shot in the lane with 1.2-seconds left in the second overtime gave South Dakota a 92-91 win over UW-Milwaukee on Thursday night.

The Panthers had a chance to win it in the first overtime but a video review confirmed a whistle and shot clock violation on a put-back attempt by Akeem Springs, which nullified a basket.

The Panthers almost came back from a five-point deficit with just over two minutes to play but fell short.

Matt Tiby had 31 points and 17 rebounds, as he became the 26th Milwaukee player to score one-thousand points for his career.

Five South Dakota players scored in double figures, led by Tyler Hagedorn and D.J. Davis, as the Coyotes improve to seven-and-four while the Panthers dropped to eight-and-four.
