Brewers and Cardinals complete Axford deal

The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed reliever Michael Blazek from the St. Louis Cardinals as the player to be named in the deal that sent right-handed reliever John Axford to the Cardinals on Friday.  Blazek will join the Brewers on Monday and wear uniform number 54.

The 24-year-old Blazek had spent his entire pro career in the Cardinals organization.  He was selected in the 35th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.  He made his Major League debut this season (11g, 0-0, 6.97era, 10.1ip, 1oh, 8r, 8er, 10bb, 10k).  In the minor leagues this season, Blazek combined to go 1-2 with a 1.97 ERA and 9 saves in 36 relief appearances between Double-A Springfield (17g, 0-0-7, 0.92era) and Triple-A Memphis (19g, 1-2-2, 2.77era).
