February 2, 2017 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks signed Miles Plumlee to a four-year, $50 million contract last summer, but things didn’t work out the way either side had hoped.

Bucks general manager John Hammond sent Plumlee to the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday, getting big men Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes in return.  The Bucks also released Steve Novak to make room for the extra roster spot.

Plumlee averaged 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 32 games for the Bucks this season.

Hawes is a 10-year NBA veteran with stints with Sacramento, Philadelphia, Cleveland, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Hornets.  He averaged 7.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 35 games for Charlotte this season. [Read more…]

April 9, 2016 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks logo 10The Milwaukee Bucks dropped their third straight game, falling to the Celtics in Boston 124-109.

The Bucks started strong, behind the efforts of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker, but the Celtics quickly rebounded to win their fourth straight in convincing fashion.

Antetokounmpo poured in 17 points in the opening quarter and Jabari Parker hit five of his first eight from the field for ten quick points.  The Bucks led by as many as 11 points in the first quarter and had a 35-30 lead at the break.

Antetokounmpo then got into foul trouble and the Bucks balloon quickly lost air.

Antetokounmpo finished with 27 points, including a career-high four three-pointers.  He added seven assists and seven rebounds.  Parker added 18 points and Miles Plumlee 16 points.

Five Celtics scored in double figures, led by Tyler Zeller with 26 points.  That broke Isaiah Thomas’ streak of 17 straight games as Boston’s leading scorer.  Thomas finished with 20 points on the night.

The Milwaukee Bucks started the fourth quarter trailing the Memphis Grizzlies by five points.  They went with their bench and came from behind to pull out a 96-86 victory.

Jason Kidd went with John Henson, Miles Plumlee, Rashad Vaughn, Tyler Ennis and Damien Inglis.  That group outscored the Grizzlies 28-13 in that fourth quarter and they never left the floor.

Ennis led the way with all 13 of his points in the final quarter.  The Bucks had eight of their 17 blocked shots in the quarter.

Things got a little chippy in the final four minutes.  John Henson committed a hard foul on Lance Stephenson that resulted in a flagrant-1 call, as well as a technical for getting in Stephenson’s face after the play.

Then with 5.5 seconds left and the Bucks up by 10, Henson came from behind to block a Matt Barnes shot out-of-bounds.  Henson then got in Barnes’ face for a short time.  Both players received technical fouls and Henson was ejected.

Even though Barnes hadn’t been tossed, he took off for the tunnel with some Bucks coaches and staff members in hot pursuit.  Nothing ended up happening and the game ended with a Bucks victory.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 15 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.

There’s no doubt that Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has star power.  There’s not a lot of players that have the ability to sell out the BMO Harris Bradley Center on a Monday night, but that’s what happened.

The sellout crowd of 18,717 fans came out to pay tribute to Bryant, one of the NBA’s all-time greatest players.  Bryant isn’t the player he once was, but still gave the Milwaukee crowd reason to cheer, scoring 15-points and pulling down five rebounds in a 108-101 Bucks victory.

But it was Bucks youngster Giannis Antetokounmpo that ended up stealing the show, collecting his first career triple-double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and ten [Read more…]
