Teletovic has surgery, will miss a month

November 22, 2017 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks forward Mirza Teletovic had arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage in his left knee on Tuesday.  The Bucks announced he’s expected to be out for a month.

In 10 games this season, Teletovic is averaging 7.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1 assist a game while shooting 46.7% from three-point range.

The Bucks also say center John Henson will miss the Bucks’ game tonight (Wednesday) in Phoenix after undergoing what the Bucks described as “a successful eye procedure” on Tuesday.

Wednesday night’s game features the return of Eric Bledsoe to Phoenix to face a Suns team he spent four years with.  It’s also the Bucks first game against former Bucks center Greg Monroe.

The Bucks will be trying to end a two-game losing streak.  They’re 8-8 and in fourth place in the Eastern Conference’s Central Division.

Bucks fail to lock down playoff spot again

April 7, 2017 By Bill Scott

Another chance to lock down a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs passed by as the Milwaukee Bucks fell to the Indiana Pacers 104-89 on Thursday night in Indianapolis.

The Pacers (39-40), moved to within a game of the Bucks, who are in the six spot in the Eastern Conference race.  The Bucks (40-39) trail Atlanta (40-38) by a half game for the fifth spot in the East.  Chicago (39-40) is also just a game behind the Bucks, tied with Indiana.  The Bucks have tie breaker advantages over both teams.

Bucks look to add veteran leadership

August 19, 2016 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks logo 11The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly close to signing veterans Jason Terry and Steve Novak for the upcoming season.

ESPN.com reported Thursday that the Bucks were in advanced talks with Terry.

The 38-year-old Terry won the NBA sixth man award with Dallas in 2009 and spent the last two seasons with the Houston Rockets.  Bucks coach Jason Kidd played with Terry on the Dallas Mavericks NBA championship team in 2011.

The Bucks had originally signed Novak back in February after he was released by the Denver Nuggets.  He played in just three games with the Bucks before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Terry ranks third all-time among NBA players in three-pointers made with 2,169, behind only Ray Allen and Reggie Miller. [Read more…]

Bucks to visit with Dwayne Wade next week

July 2, 2016 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks logo 11The Milwaukee Bucks have come to agreements with a pair of free agents on Friday.  They agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract with Phoenix free agent forward Mirza Teletovic.  The Bucks followed with a four-year, $38 million offer to restricted free agent Matthew Dellavedova, although the Cleveland Cavaliers have the right to match.  They’re not expected to do so.

The Bucks may not be done.  They are scheduled to meet with Miami Heat free agent and former Marquette star Dwayne Wade next week.

Wade is upset with the Heat.  They agreed to a four-year, $98 million deal with center Hassan Whiteside on Friday and are said to be setting their sights on Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant.  Wade, is said to be disappointed that Miami has targeted other players in free agency without addressing his situation.

According to reports, the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls could also be in the mix for Wade if he truly wishes to leave Miami.

Wade has played 13 years in Miami and won three NBA titles.  He was the fifth overall pick in the 2003 draft and is a 12-time NBA all-star.

Bucks get active in NBA free agency

July 1, 2016 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks logo 11The Milwaukee Bucks landed a big man who can shoot in free agency on Friday, agreeing to a 3-year, $30 million deal with Mirza Teletovic.

Teletovic averaged 12.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in a reserve role with the Phoenix Suns last season, shooting a career best 39.3% from three-point range.

Teletovic is re-united with head coach Jason Kidd after playing for Kidd in Brooklyn.  Teletovic played for the Nets during his first three NBA seasons.

Multiple reports also say the Bucks have signed Cleveland free agent guard Matthew Dellavedova to an offer sheet, one that the Cavaliers will have until July 10th to match.  The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that it’s unlikely the Cavaliers will match that offer.

The Bucks also lost guard Jerryd Bayless after he agreed to a three-year, $27 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.  Bayless ranked fourth in the league in three-point shooting last season, averaging 43.7% from distance.
