Former Oshkosh QB, Wara signs with Blizzard

Wara led UW-Oshkosh to the NCAA Division III National semifinals in 2012 by completing 65% of his passes for 3,311 yards and 30 touchdowns with five interceptions.  He also rushed for 740 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Wara made 44 starts for the Titans, totaling 8,881 passing yards and 2,321 rushing yards with 103 touchdowns (80 passing, 23 rushing).

Wara received WIAC and D3football.com player of the year in 2012, he received a pro-day workout from the Green Bay Packers before the 2013 NFL draft.

The Green Bay Packers worked Wara out yesterday in Oshkosh.

Wara ran a triple-option spread offense at Oshkosh and led the Titans to their first WIAC title in 36 years.

Wara completed 65% of his passes for over 33-hundred yards and 30 touchdowns last season.

The only conference quarterback to ever get drafted into the NFL was Stevens Point signal caller Kirk Baumgartner, by the Green Bay Packers, in the 9th round of the 1990 NFL Draft.

Wara named Div-3 All American

University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh quarterback Nate Wara has received NCAA

Division III All-America honors by the American Football Coaches Association.  Wara is the first Oshkosh Titan player to be recognized since the AFCA All-America program began in 1945.

Two other Wisconsin players were named to the All-America team.  That list includes punter Christian Hallingstad of UW-La Crosse and defensive back Ryan McWethy of UW-Platteville.

Wara totaled 4,051 yards and 40 touchdowns as the leader of UW-Oshkosh’s record-breaking offense.  He started all 44 games the past four years, leading the Titans to a 28-16 overall record. 

Wara ranks second in WIAC history in total offense (11,202 yards) and 13th in NCAA Division III history.  He’s one of four finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy for National Player of the Year.  The winner of that award will be announced in Salem, Virginia today.
