Brewers open a 3-game series in Houston

After an off day Monday, the Brewers return to action Tuesday night against former NL Central rival Houston.  The Astros made the move to the American League before the start of this season.

Entering play Tuesday, Milwaukee (28-40) is tied with Chicago (28-40) for last place in the National League Central.  St. Louis (45-25) has the best record in the Majors and leads the Brewers by 16-games.  Cincinnati (43-28) is 2.5 games back of the Cardinals while Pittsburgh (41-29) is 4-back.  The Reds and Pirates currently hold the National League Wild Card spots.  The Brewers are 12-back of the Pirates for the final one.

Brewers take on first place Cincinnati (AUDIO)

The (44-47) Milwaukee Brewers open a 3-game series with the (52-40) Cincinnati Reds at the Great American Ball Park Friday night.  These are the final 3-games of Milwaukee’s 9-game stretch against teams ahead of them in the NL Central. Entering Friday, Cincinnati leads Pittsburgh by a half game for the top spot in the Central.  St. Louis sits 5-games back in 3rd place while the 4th place Brewers are 7.5 games out.

Cincinnati leads the season series 4-2.  Marco Estrada (0-3) will pitch for the Brewers opposite Homer Bailey (8-6) of Cincinnati for Friday’s 6:10 first pitch.  Saturday, Yovani Gallardo (8-6) will face the Reds Bronson Arroyo (4-6) for a 6:10 start.  The series will wrap up Sunday with Michael Fiers (3-3) taking on Cincy Ace Edison Volquez (11-5) in a 12:10 afternoon game.
