Bucks hold off Pelicans for 4th straight win

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 38 points, Khris Middleton added 31 and Donte DiVincenzo added a career high 24 as the Milwaukee Bucks held off the New Orleans Pelicans 129-125 on Thursday night at Fiserv Forum.

Zion Williamson scored 34 points and Brandon Ingram added 23 for the Pelicans, who had won two straight.

The Pelicans took a 125-124 lead with 2:01 to play in the fourth quarter, then didn’t score again.  The game was tight most of the way, featuring 15 ties and 23 lead changes.

The Bucks finished the first half of their season in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-13 record.

The game had plenty of offense and both teams shot well.  The Bucks made 54.2% of their field goal tries, while the Pelicans converted on 50%.

The Bucks return to action on Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers at Fiserv Forum.

Bucks struggle in final scrimmage

The Milwaukee Bucks final exhibition tuneup didn’t go quite according to plan, falling 124-102 to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night in Florida.

The Bucks jumped out early and led by as many as 13 points in the second quarter before settling for a three-point advantage at halftime.

The game stayed close in the third quarter until Pelicans guard J.J. Redick got hot, scoring all 20 of his points in the final five minutes of the quarter.  Redick was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, including four three-pointers.

The Bucks trailed by nine entering the fourth quarter and saw the Pelicans pull away.  Milwaukee shot just under 40% from the field and 26% from three-point range. [Read more…]

Bucks get by Pelicans in first meeting against Zion

The Milwaukee Bucks got 34 points and 17 rebounds from Giannis Antetokounmpo and knocked off the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Tuesday night.

Giannis also helped put the clamps down on the Pelicans first overall draft pick Zion Williamson, holding him to 20 points on 5 of 18 shooting from the field.

The Bucks won their second straight and improved to an NBA best 43-7 on the season.

Khris Middleton continued to stay hot, finishing with 20 points, eight assists and eight rebounds.  Wesley Matthews added 17 points while hitting four of five three-pointers in the second half and five for nine for the game.  Eric Bledsoe added 16 points.

The Bucks return home to host the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night at Fiserv Forum.

Bucks run win streak to 16

The Milwaukee Bucks extended their winning streak to 16-straight games, knocking off the New Orleans Pelicans 127-112 at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday night.

The Bucks played without star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was sidelined with a sore quad.  They didn’t need him.

Eric Bledsoe scored a team-high 29 points and Khris Middleton added 24 for the Bucks.

J.J. Redick had a game-high 31 points for New Orleans.  Brandon Ingram added a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  The Panthers fell to 6-19 with their 10th straight loss.

The Bucks are back in action on Friday night, in Memphis against the Grizzlies.
