Playing without Davante Adams, the Green Bay Packers turned to running back Aaron Jones and knocked off the Dallas Cowboys 34-24 at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.

Jones rushed 19 times for 107 yards and scored all four of the Packers touchdowns.  He also led the Packers with seven receptions for 75 yards.

Going into the game, the Packers ground game ranked 26th overall and Jones was averaging just 3.3 yards a carry.  He averaged 5.6 yards a carry and 10.7 yards per reception on Sunday.

Aaron Rodgers didn’t throw a single touchdown pass, but he did complete 22 of 34 for 238 yards and helped the Packers play their most complete offensive game of the season.

Defensively, the Packers recorded three interceptions and three quarterback sacks.  They held Cowboys [Read more…]

Packers looking to stay perfect at home (Video Preview)

December 26, 2014 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers enter Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions a perfect 7-0 at Lambeau Field this season.  They’re a win away from a perfect home record and it would mark just the sixth time in franchise history that the Packers will have gone through a regular season without losing a football game at home.

The Detroit Lions are desperately trying to change their fortunes against the Packers around.  They’ve lost 23 straight games on Wisconsin soil (Green Bay & Milwaukee) with the last victory coming back in 1991 against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

The Lions have gone through 13 quarterbacks and eight head coaches during that stretch.

Here’s more on the Packers and Lions on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Packers in the drivers seat (Lions fall to Ravens)

December 17, 2013 By Bill Scott

The defending Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens moved closer to a return trip to the playoffs and they helped out the Green Bay Packers as well.

Ravens kicker Justin Tucker booted six field goals, including the 61-yard game winner with :38 left to knock off the Detroit Lions 18-16 in Detroit.

That result means the Green Bay Packers will win the NFC North title if they win their two remaining games, against Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday and at Chicago in two weeks.

Matthew Stafford threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Fauria with 2:21 left, putting Detroit ahead 16-15.  But the Lions were unable to make a 2-point conversion and couldn’t prevent Baltimore from getting a final chance with Tucker.

The game winning kick for Tucker was his 33 in-a-row.  He hasn’t missed a field goal since he was 0 for 2 in week 2 at Cleveland.  He has the longest streak since Matt Stover made 36 in a row for the Ravens from 2005-06.

The Lions fell to 7-7 and hurt their playoff chances by losing four of their last five games.  The loss dropped them out of sole possession of first place in the NFC North, all the way into 3rd place, behind the Bears and Packers.

Matthew Stafford threw three interceptions in the loss.  He now has 12 in the last five games.

Packers top Vikings, tied with Bears once again (AUDIO)

December 3, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers ran their divisional winning streak to 10-games with a 23-14 victory over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Their hasn’t been too many, if any,  games in 2012 where the running game led the charge but this one was the case.  James Starks and Alex Green combined for 124-yards on 27-carries with Starks adding the teams first rushing TD since Week 5.  After the game, Head Coach Mike McCarthy was pleased with his teams rushing performance…

Wilson expected to miss Vikings game

November 29, 2012 By admin

C.J. Wilson will miss Sunday’s game, but is confident in his teammates

Green Bay Packer defensive lineman C.J. Wilson is expected to miss this Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, but has full confidence in his teammates to step up in his place.

AUDIO: Wilson on not playing Sunday :12

Wilson hurt his knee on the very first play of last week’s game against the Giants, but played another 13 snaps before sitting the rest of the game.

AUDIO: Wilson on how injury happened :15

If Wilson cannot go, the Packers will miss the run stopper as they face the third best rushing team in the league, led by Adrian Peterson.  The physical Vikings team currently average 147.2 rushing yards per game.

Peterson has already gained 1,236 yards (5.8 ypc).  He’s surpassed 100 yards in each of his last 5-games.

Wilson becomes another defensive player that will miss, or looks doubtful to miss Sunday’s game.  Other names on that list include Clay Matthews, Sam Shields, and Charles Woodson.

The Packers looks to their younger defensive players this Sunday as they take on the Minnesota Vikings in an important NFC North match-up.
