The Milwaukee Brewers had a chance to win their fifth series of the season with a victory Sunday in Philadelphia.

Milwaukee had out hit the Phillies, but trailed 3-0 after four innings. Starter Wily Peralta allowed a ground rule double, a play that originally was called a home run but overruled on a replay review due to fan interference, and was removed with runners on second and third with one out.

Reliever Neil Ramirez entered and promptly served up back-to-back home runs, busting the game open with five runs in the fifth to make it 8-0.

The Brewers would go on to lose 8-1 to split the four-game series.

Peralta (3-7) took the loss and ran his ERA to 6.79. The righthander surrendered six runs, five earned, on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. He allowed a solo home run in third inning. [Read more…]

The Milwaukee Brewers have sent reliever Tyler Cravy back down to their Triple “A” farm club at Colorado Springs, allowing them to add a fifth outfielder to their roster.

The Brewers recalled Alex Presley from Colorado Springs after last night’s game.

Cravy pitched the final inning of last night’s game against the Twins.  He allowed one run, which raised his ERA to 3.18 with no record in five appearances.

Presley was the final position player the Brewers cut at the end of Spring Training.  He’ll become a third left-handed hitting outfield option for the Brewers, joining Ramon Flores and Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

Brewers: Three deals in three days

November 20, 2015 By Bill Scott

Brewers logoNew Milwaukee Brewers general manager David Stearns has orchestrated his third trade in three days, sending infielder Luis Sardinas to the Seattle Mariners for outfielder Ramon Flores.

The 23-year-old Flores made his Major League debut this season, appearing in 12 games during three stints with the Yankees.  He was traded to Seattle on July 30, along with RHP Jose Ramirez, in exchange for infielder/outfielder Dustin Ackley.  Following the trade, Flores was assigned to Triple-A Tacoma, where he hit .423 in 14 games before a right leg injury ended his season on August 14.  He also hit .286 at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Yankees) in 2015.

Flores is a career .275 hitter in the minor leagues with 45 HR and 267 RBI in 675 games (2009-15).

The 22-year-old Sardinas hit .196 in two stints with the Brewers this past season.  He was acquired by the Brewers in the deal that sent pitcher Yovani Gallardo to the Texas Rangers last January 19.
