Tolzien to start Sunday at New York

announce at his post game press conference that the former Badger would start for the Green Bay Packers at quarterback on Sunday against the New York Giants.

For the second straight week, the Packers saw their starter go down early in the first quarter and this time it was Scott Tolzien’s turn to take over for Seneca Wallace.  Tolzien completed 24 of 39 for 280 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.  His quarterback rating was 70.5.

Tolzien’s numbers weren’t enough to prevent the Packers from falling to the Eagles
27-13, but it was enough to convince Mike McCarthy that he was the best man for the job going forward.

The Packers are scheduled to take a look at Matt Flynn today, but even if they signed him, it appears McCarthy would go this week with Tolzien. [Read more…]

Rodgers confirms collarbone injury

November 5, 2013 By Bill Scott

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers confirmed on his weekly radio show today (ESPN-Milwaukee) that he suffered a broken collarbone.  Rodgers suffered the injury while being sacked in Chicago’s 27-20 win over the Packers in Monday Night Football action at Lambeau Field.

Rodgers called it a significant injury but said there’s no timetable for his return.  It leaves Seneca Wallace to get ready to start against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at Lambeau Field.

The Packers are expected to elevate QB Scott Tolzien to the active roster to serve as backup to Seneca Wallace, although no official move has been announced yet.  The Packers did activate tackle Derek Sherrod from the reserve/physically unable to perform list and placed LB Sam Barrington and TE Jermichael Finley on season ending injured reserve.

Finley played in six games with five starts this season and caught 25 passes for 300 yards (12.0 avg.) and three touchdowns.  Barrington appeared in seven games and recorded three tackles on special teams.
