St. Norbert College men’s hockey coach Tim Coghlin won his 500th career game on Saturday.  The Green Knights blanked Northland College in a NCHA contest as Coghlin became the third-fastest coach in NCAA hockey history for all divisions to reach 500 career wins.

Coghlin’s 500th win came in his 680th game.  He is the 25th coach in NCAA history to win 500 games, but only John Rolli of UMass-Dartmouth (658 games) and Bob Peters of Bemidji State (677 games) have accomplished the milestone in fewer games.

Tony Kujava recorded his eighth shutout of the season for the Green Knights (18-2-1, 14-2 NCHA).

Alex Kile opened the scoring to put the Gamblers in front 1-0.  Nick Schmaltz tallied his first career USHL playoff goal early in the second to put the Gamblers up again, 2-1.  Youngstown then scored 3-straight 3rd period goals to close out the scoring.

Tony Kujava took the loss in-goal, stopping 24 of 28 shots on net.
