Bakhtiari sits out Wednesday, questionable for Sunday

October 22, 2020 By Bill Scott

David Bakhtiari

After leaving last Sunday’s loss at Tampa with a chest injury, Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl left tackle David Bakhtiari didn’t practice on Wednesday.  It was a day that the Packers went with a shorter, lighter practice after coach Matt LaFleur told reporters earlier in the day that the team would work inside the Hutson Center because they’re banged up.  A total of thirteen players showed up on the teams injury report, which was put out later in the day.

Tyler Lancaster (shoulder), Darnell Savage (quadriceps), Robert Tonyan (ankle) and Tyler Ervin (wrist), also didn’t practice on Wednesday.  A number of other players, including cornerback Kevin King, were limited participants.

Rodgers less than thrilled with question

The first question delivered to Aaron Rodgers during his weekly session with reporters got under his skin on Wednesday.  Rodgers was asked if opponents had figured out coach Matt LaFleur’s offense and his response was short and pointed.

“So because of one game, what is it you’re implying?”  When asked again, Rodgers said, “One out of five.”

Rodgers continued to answer questions, but near the end, he was told by another reporter that he seemed down in the dumps.

“I’m definitely not down in the dumps, so don’t project that onto me.  That’s not a reality,” he said.

Jones leads Packers to rout of Lions

September 21, 2020 By Bill Scott

Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones had a big day, helping the Green Bay Packers roll to a 42-21 win over the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field on Sunday.

Jones rushed for a career-high 168 yards and scored three touchdowns, including a 75-yard TD run to start the second half.  He also had a team-high 68 receiving yards on four catches, combining for 236 all-purpose yards in the win.

The Packers (2-0) won their eighth straight home opener and improved to 8-0 against the NFC North under coach Matt LaFleur’s tenure in Green Bay.

Aaron Rodgers completed 18 of 30 for 240 yards and two touchdowns and the Packers have now put up 85 points in the first two weeks of the season.  The Packers are just the eighth team in the Super bowl era to score at lest 40 points in each [Read more…]

Packers to give newcomer Ervin a shot on return units

December 5, 2019 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers are wasting no time in giving newly acquired running back and returner Tyler Ervin a shot on both kick and punt returns this week against Washington.  Packers coach Matt LaFleur indicated that would likely be the case when speaking with reporters on Wednesday.

The Packers claimed Ervin off waivers from Jacksonville on Monday and threw him right into the mix when practice resumed on Wednesday.

Ervin is listed as a running back and gives the Packers some depth there, but has just five carries and 14 receptions during his brief NFL career.  Ervin has primarily been used as a return specialist since being drafted by Houston in the fourth round out of San Jose State in 2016. [Read more…]
