Final day of WIAA High School boys state golf is underway

The final day of the WIAA boys state high school golf championships are underway at University Ridge golf course in Verona (near Madison) today.

The first day of the competition on Monday had a late 40-minute weather delay.

Arrowhead took a 3-shot lead into the final day of the Division 1 completion today over Green Bay Notre Dame.  Middleton was a distant third.

In division 2, Lodi has a 23 shot lead on Edgewood and St. Mary’s Springs tops the division 3 field, 10 shots in front of Lancaster.

WIAA Boys’ Golf Meet Continues Today

The 2014 WIAA Boys’ Golf Meet continues on Tuesday with Day Two of the 36-hole event. 

In Division 1; Homestead posted the low 4-man total of 308, Charlie Maleki of Homestead lead his team with an even par 72. Eau Claire Memorial sits two shots back with a team total of 310. Notre Dame Academy and Waterford are tied for third at 313.

Division 1 Individual Leaders:

1. Kaylor Steger of Oak Creek, 68 (4-under)

t-2. Bennett Hutson of Onalaska, 69 (3-under)

t-2. Dylan Patscot of Kettle Moraine, 69 (3-under)

 

Edgewood is your day one leader in Division 2 after posting a team score of 301. Catholic Memorial is 4-shots back at 305 and Sheboygan Falls rounds out the top 3, 15-shots back at 316.

Division 2 Individual Leaders:

1. Chris Colla of Winnebago Luthern Academy, 68 (4-under)

t-2. Matt Bachmann of Sheboygan Falls, 72 (even)

t-2. Johnny Decker of Edgewood, 72 (even)

 

In Division 3, Lancaster holds an 8-shot lead after posting a team total of 317. Osseo-Fairchild is in second with a 326 and The Prairie School is in 3rd following a first day total of 326.

Division 3 Individual Leaders:

1. Thomas Longbella of MeDonell Central, 69 (3-under)

2. Patrick Treichel of Saint Mary Springs, 72 (even)

3. Zach Hentrich of Lancaster High, 74 (2-over)

State golf heads to final day

Champions will be crowned today at the WIAA Boys State High School Golf Championships at University Ridge in Verona.

After the opening day, Cedarburg has a 5-stroke lead on Brookfield in the Division 1 field.  Appleton East and Eau Claire North are tied for third.

Edgerton has the first round lead in Division 2, 12-shots ahead of Catholic Memorial.

Osseo-Fairchild tops the Division-3 field by 6-shots over Pardeeville.

The final day of competition is today.

Verona.

Arrowhead won the Division-1 title last year but failed to qualify this season.  Brookfield Central and Onalaska are the favorites this year.

In Division-2, Green Bay Notre Dame is considered the favorite entering the 2-day event today.

St. Mary’s Springs and Osseo-Fairchild are expected to push the Division 3 field.
