The Milwaukee Bucks wrap up the regular season with an afternoon game (3 p.m.) against the Memphis Grizzlies inside the bubble near Orlando and they won’t have forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks star was suspended one game without pay by the NBA for headbutting Washington Wizards center Moritz Wagner during a game on Tuesday.

Antetokounmpo was assessed a flagrant-2 foul and ejected from the game, which the Bucks went on to win 126-113.

Also missing from the Bucks lineup on Thursday will be Wesley Matthews (right abductor soreness).

Memphis is battling for a spot in the 8-9 playoff game in the Western Conference, so not having to deal with Giannis Antetokounmpo is good news for them.

The Bucks are the top seed in the Eastern Conference and will open the first round of the playoffs next week against Orlando.

Bucks sweep Chicago with sloppy performance

January 21, 2020 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks pulled off a four-game season series sweep over the Chicago Bulls, winning Monday evening 111-98 at Fiserv Forum.

It was a sloppy performance by the Bucks, who tied a season high with 23 turnovers, including 15 in the first half, in winning their seventh straight game.  In winning all four games against the Bulls this season, the Bucks ran their overall win streak against Chicago to 10.

Giannis Antetokounmpo tied his career high of eight turnovers to go along with a triple double (28 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists).

The Bucks might have had their minds elsewhere, getting ready to board a plane for Paris after the game.  They will face the Charlotte Hornets there [Read more…]

Giannis powers Bucks past Jazz

November 26, 2019 By Bill Scott

Playing without Khris Middleton and George Hill, the Milwaukee Bucks struggled in the first half against the Utah Jazz, trailing by nine points at halftime.  But Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 50 points, 32 in the second half, to lead the Bucks to a come-from-behind 122-118 win over the Jazz at Fiserv Forum.

The win was the Bucks eighth in a row, their longest win streak since the 2002 season.

The Bucks (14-3) trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half, but Antetokounmpo tried to keep them in it, scoring 18 first half points.

Wesley Matthews was a big part of the second half comeback as well, hitting four three-pointers in as many tries in the third quarter.

Down the stretch, the Jazz refused to go easy.  Utah had the ball, down by two with the shot clock off.  Donovan Mitchell drove to the basket and Bucks big man Brook Lopez made a key block and pulling down the rebound.  He quickly gave the ball to Pat Connaughton who was fouled and iced the game with a pair of free throws.

The Bucks are off on Tuesday and host the Atlanta Hawks at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday night.
