Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson tossed three first-half touchdown passes to lead Team Irvin to a 49-27 win over Team Rice in the NFL’s Pro Bowl game on Sunday in Hawaii.

The former Badger was the first player picked in the all-star game’s draft.  His touchdown passes went 14 yards to Atlanta’s Julio Jones, tw0-yards to Atlanta’s Devonta Freeman and 10-yards to Rams running back Todd Gurley.

Minnesota’s Teddy Bridgewater and Tampa Bay’s Jameis Winston each added two TD passes for Team Irvin.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, guard Josh Sitton, fullback John Kuhn and linebacker Julius Peppers all played for Team Rice.  Matthews led the way with six tackles.  Kuhn caught three passes for 17 yards.

Packers associate head coach Winston Moss served as coach of Team Irvin, taking over for Mike McCarthy who stayed back home in Green Bay because of illness.

Packers get testy during Wednesday T-C workout

Wednesday’s Green Bay Packers Training Camp workout was full of fights as well as pushing and shoving matches.  That isn’t strange to an NFL practice.  But the Packers had at least six of them yesterday.

It started early with WR Jeff Janis and CB Antonio Dennard.  When it was all finished, roughly 40 players jumped in.  At least a dozen were on the ground, punching and kicking for 30 seconds or more.

The day even included a shouting match between Green Bay linebackers coach Winston Moss and Packers offensive line coach James Campen.

It’s almost hard to believe that a team that has struggled with injuries the past couple of seasons, came out of this with no injuries to report.

With three preseason games coming up, including a game at St. Louis on Saturday, Mike McCarthy said it’s likely the most physical they’ll be for the rest of camp.

After practice, Jordy Nelson made it clear that challenges were presented to the players by the coaches during early morning team meetings, to fight for your teammates.  The coaches were looking to see some emotion in this camp and that’s exactly what they got.

So were the fights staged.  You could say that the mission was accomplished.

Packers are nearly out of the woods with coaching staff

January 25, 2012 By Bill Scott

Mike Sherman is reportedly interviewing for a second time with the Tampa

Bay Buccaneers with regards to their head coaching vacancy.

The Oakland Raiders are set to hire Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

Indianapolis appears to be going in a direction that doesn’t include any Green Bay Packers assistant coaches, which means the chances of Mike McCarthy losing any more of his assistant coaches is diminishing.

A number of teams still have coordinator positions open, but Allen’s hiring in Oakland means Dom Capers and Winston Moss, who both interviewed for the Raiders opening, will be returning to Green Bay for now.

McCarthy and his coaching staff is currently in Hawaii, preparing the NFC squad for this weekends Pro Bowl.  Practices are scheduled to begin today.  Six Packers will play for the NFC squad with John Kuhn sitting out because of a knee injury he suffered in the Packers season ending loss to the New York Giants.
