The bats went quiet last night in San Diego as the Brewers fell to the Padres 2-1 at Petco Park. The loss snapped Milwaukee’s 9-game winning streak which was the longest since the Brewers won 10-straight in August of 2003.
Milwaukee ran into a buzz-saw on the mound in the form of Padres starter Edison Volquez (1-2). Volquez pitched 7-shuout innings allowing just 5-hits for his first win of the year. Brewers starter Marco Estrada (2-1) was solid despite taking his first loss of the year. Estrada went 6 2/3 innings surrendering 2-runs, only 1-earned, on 5-hits.
