A new on-line survey seeks to find what state manufacturers are doing to achieve success by 2015. The Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership wants to establish a benchmark on how well state manufacturers are adopting new, world class practices and strategies. "We've never attempted this kind of thing before," says WMEP executive director Mike Klonsinski. "It is a big effort, but the only way we're going to move forward as a state is to make the effort to find out where we're at."

Klonsinski says the confidential survey will take about thirty minutes to complete, and WMEP is hoping for responses from as many of the state's ten-thousand manufacturers as possible. "Three percent would be credible," he says. "Our target is seven percent, because then we could cut by industry, by region and by size of company. That would be a phenomincal response rate."

Deadline for completing the survey is September 30.
