With school violence so much in the news these days, what do we tell our children?

We can't seem to escape it. News of the high school plot in Green Bay. A student gunning down a principal in Cazenovia and other tragic shootings in Colorado and Pennsylvania. Dr. Sara Trane with Dean Health says don't assume what your children may be thinking about all the mayhem. She says it's important to just be there and listen to their concerns.

Dr. Trane says, if the subject comes up, tell them the truth about what happened on a level equal to their level of understanding depending on their age.

Dr. Trane says many times tragic events can affect adults more than children but it's important for children to know there's a plan in place to keep them safe.
