A state lawmaker proposes tax breaks, to allow doctors and clinics to go electronic. Electronic Medical Records, or EMR, may not seem unusual in big city health care facilities, but Representative Terry Moulton says many other providers in Wisconsin are not able to take advantage of the savings they can generate. The Chippewa Falls Republican says that's especially true in the more rural areas of the state. Moulton's current bill would offer tax credits to help health facilities with the costs of purchasing EMR, although he says he intends to amend it, to make that a tax exemption. Moulton testified on the bill before the Assembly Committee on Health and Healthcare Reform.
