Former Badger Matt Tegenkamp advanced to the final of the 5,000 metgers at the International association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Championships today in Osaka, Japan.
Tegenkamp, a 2004 graduate of the UW, finished third in his heat to automatically qualify for Sunday's final. The Lee's Summit, Mo., native crossed in 13 minutes, 35.05 seconds.
Tegenkamp, who is competing in his first World Track & Field Championships, qualified for the meet by finishing second in the 5,000 meters at the USA Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis.
