A Marshfield man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, for his 2011 plan to kill a Madison Planned Parenthood doctor. Ralph Lang was convicted in May of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. The Wisconsin State Journal reports that the 65 year-old anti-abortion activist declined to make a statement in court prior to his sentencing by Dane County Circuit Judge Nicholas McNamara.

Lang, who said he was “still spiritually struggling,” also received 10 years of extended supervision after his prison term ends. His stay in prison will be shortened by about 2-1/2 years because he has been in custody continuously since his arrest.

Lang was arrested on May 25, 2011, after he accidentally discharged a gun in his motel room in Madison. The bullet traveled through the door of Lang’s room and into the room across the hall. Lang told the responding officers of his plans.
