Florida's 41-14 win over Ohio State in the BCS Title game is precisely why they play the games.

To those of you who called this one, way to go.  For the high percentage of the remaining college football fans who chalked up an Ohio State victory regardless of the opponent, well, what can we say.

Who would have thought Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith would go 4 for 14 for 36 yards in the title game?  And how about the Buckeyes tallying just 74 yards of total offense against the Gators?

Monday night's title game was one of pure domination on the part of the Florida Gators.  Chris Leak played the game of his life and Florida was the better prepared team.  They smacked the Buckeyes right in the mouth.

Florida led 34-14 at the half.  I'm really glad I hit the hay at halftime because the second half's single touchdown was just a formality.  And what's up with Jim Tressel going for it on fourth down deep in his own territory in the first half?  There's taking a gamble and then there's being downright stupid.

So Florida is number 1 and deserving of the ranking.  But Boise State jumps from 9th to 5th in the A.P. Top 25 poll and the Badgers win their game against Arkansas in the Capitol One Bowl and then drop from 6th to 7th in that same poll.  How does a team fall in the rankings while picking up a victory against a quality opponent in a significant bowl game?

I'm still for a National Championship playoff format of some sort, but last night, the BCS system showed it works once in awhile.  Without the BCS, USC would have probably been playing in that title game last night, not Florida.
