A woman in western Wisconsin has the holiday spirit — and a pair of strong arms. With Salvation Army kettle campaign donations lagging in St. Croix and Polk counties, volunteer Helen Mccumbee had an idea: she'd stand with a red kettle outside a Hudson supermarket for 30 straight hours, in an effort to raise $30,000. "Those that did come up, gave big," she reported. Mccumbee was at her station from 5:00 a.m. Wednesday until 11:00 Thursday, and she's glad its over. "The bell gets heavy after awhile, so I have to go to a smaller one sometimes," she said.
