Outside linebacker Jeremy Thompson has been released by the Green Bay Packers.  Thompson is headed for retirement from football after sustaining a neck injury late last season.

Thompson was a 4th round pick of the Packers in 2008.  He was hospitalized after injuring his neck in a collision during a practice in December.  Thompson was unable to play for the remainder of the season.

Without Thompson, Brad Jones and Brady Poppinga are expected to compete for the starters job at outside linebacker, opposite Clay Matthews.
