spot in the Milwaukee Brewers starting rotation next season.

Thornburg allowed 2-hits over six shutout innings as the Brewers cruised to a 7-0 win at Miller Park.  Thornburg didn’t allow a single baserunner to move beyond first base, improving to 3-1 with a 1.25 ERA in his six starts for the Brewers this season.

Thornburg struck out four and walked two and allowed only a pair of singles.

The Brewers gave Thornburg plenty of support early.  They jumped out with five runs in the first inning, four of them coming on Sean Halton’s first career grand slam.

Khris Davis also clubbed his 10th homer of the season for the Brewers who have won the first three games in the series.

The Brewers shoot for the sweep this afternoon when they send Kyle Lohse (10-9, 3.46) to the mound against Chicago’s Jake Arrieta (3-4, 5.49).

Braun visits

Suspended outfielder Ryan Braun paid a visit to the Milwaukee Brewers clubhouse before the game yesterday.  It’s his first trip to Miller Park since accepting a season-ending, 65-game drug suspension in late July.

Braun didn’t talk to the media and was gone before pre-game batting practice.

Segura injured

Brewers shortstop Jean Segura left last night’s game in the first inning with what the team announced as a strained right hamstring.  He’s listed as day-to-day.
