I state the obvious, but the interest in the PGA Tour's television broadcast schedule, beyond the two remaining majors, will be severely tested with Tiger Woods announcement that he's taking the rest of the golf season off.
The ratings don't lie. When Tiger Woods is in a tournament and heads to the weekend with a chance to win. the television ratings for golf go through the roof. When Tiger isn't playing, or isn't in contention on the weekend of a tournament, the viewership numbers take a major plunge.
What will be interesting to those that follow the sport, whether Tiger Woods is there or not, will be to see if somebody steps up. Right now, there's Tiger and then the rest of the field. Let's see if anyone separates himself from the rest of that field.
It already sounds less interesting. Before it was who will step up and give Tiger Woods a run for his money. Until Tiger returns next season, we'll wait to see if anybody gets hot and takes advantage of Woods not being around.
