Menomonee Falls standout junior J.P. Tokoto made official last night what most expected.  He’ll play college basketball at North Carolina, picking the Tarheels over runner-up Wisconsin.

Tokoto said style of play is what separated North Carolina and Wisconsin.  It also came down to staying at home or leaving the state.  Tokoto said it was a tough call.

It was nearly three decades ago that Wisconsin lost out on the states top players at the time, Joe Wolf, who opted for North Carolina as well.  Wolf was later a 1st round NBA Draft pick.

Last season, Tokoto led his high school team to the sectional finals, averaging 18.6 points a game.  Tokoto is averaging 20.5 points and 10 rebounds a game for the Indians.

Most recruiting experts have Tokoto ranked in the top 10 at his position and a top 40 to 50 player overall.
